Park Comes First In ‘Bags of Help’

The natural play area at Sconce and Devon Park is in line for a cash boost.

The park had been shortlisted for a grant from the Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ Grant Scheme following strong competition for funding from 5,000 applications.

The park’s project, along with the other two successful projects in the area, went forward to a public vote in the Tesco Express stores at Balderton, Blidworth and Rainworth and the Tesco Superstore at Ollerton, with customers deciding the outcome. The project with the highest number of votes receives £12,000, the second placed project £10,000 and the third placed project £8,000.

We are pleased to announce the park came first and was awarded £12,000. Park Ranger George Hemstock said:

‘’it’s fantastic to receive this amount of money. We were excited to receive the prospect of eight thousand but to come first and receive twelve is all the better. The money will be well spent by giving visitors even more to experience on the park. Planning will now begin on selecting the natural play equipment and other items for the area. We hope to get it completed before the summer holidays start’’
